About Amy

Amy Fruchtman is an award-winning Writer and Producer living in Brooklyn, NY.

She's been working in film & media production for over 15 years, exploring all corners of the industry on projects that span from Fortune-50 brand leaders and commercial campaigns to independent feature films and shorts. Her screenwriting has been recognized by The Page Awards, The GLAAD List, the Big Apple Film Festival, and most recently earned her a spot on the 2025 Women's List.

Currently the Creative Director at GPS Films, she prides herself on being a curious film nerd with a love for Star Trek, indie films, and fresh black coffee.

WRITING & CONSULTING

Amy started as a freelance ghostwriter and copy editor in 2012, working on a variety of scripts, treatments and even a few novel manuscripts in fiction and nonfiction biography. She truly loved the work, especially all of the deep world-building within each project.

She began taking on work as a script doctor and creative consultant in 2020, helping to develop projects like narrative pilots for HULU Originals and Peacock, short and feature films like MY BEST FRIEND and BLINK, as well as commercial ad campaigns and branded content. Her production tenure at mega-conglomerate PepsiCo gave her incredibly valuable insights into how brands think and strategize for the next generation of audiences.

Amy's personal writing projects tend to be high-concept, female-driven character dramas woven within original stories. Her work is earmarked with themes of feminism and female independence, as well as the duality of feminism and masculinity. Her stories usually tackle subjects such as protecting women's rights, domestic violence awareness, the philosophy behind masculine cultures, the education of our girls, and women's safety. PRODUCING & COORDINATING

Parallel to her writing work, Amy has built a strong reputation as a Producer. She began her production career in 2010, freelancing as a PA on feature film sets and commercials. She bounced between many departments: Painting with Production Designers, booming with Sound, scouting for Locations, and of course proofreading Talent contracts. This was a thorough education on how every department spends their time on set. By 2013, she was working consistently as a Production Coordinator armed with a calm, problem-solving approach and wide-angle view of every department’s needs.

In 2017 she joined the video production team at Sports Illustrated, coordinating the productions of editorial documentaries and short-form news features alongside award-winning sports journalists. In 2021, she transitioned to the mega conglomerate PepsiCo, where she worked closely with their internal production teams and became fluent in Fortune-500 brand storytelling. This is where she learned firsthand how legacy brands communicate, evolve, and connect with the next generation of audiences.

She then co-founded GPS Films (more below) where she continues to produce unique projects of all kinds.

GPS FILMS

Amy currently serves as Executive Producer and Creative Director for GPS Films (Gately Production Services), where she takes the lead on development for their narrative, documentary and branded content wings. She loves sitting down with writers, directors and brand leaders and breaking down their concepts, acting as chief creative consultant and lead creative producer. She truly enjoys bringing out the deeper themes and messaging within each project and guiding it from script to screen.

MY BEST FRIEND

During her first year with GPS, she helped develop and produce the independent short film MY BEST FRIEND written and directed by Emmy Award winning filmmaker Elina Street.

The film had a wildly successful festival run, starting with a North American premiere at the 2024 Tribeca Festival, where the film screened in the LGBTQ-focused block of shorts. It went on a hugely successful festival tour thereafter both in the US and abroad.

What's Amy watching right now?

Amy currently loves watching Severance, reruns of Star Trek: Deep Space Nine and The Orville. This current kick is dominated by fun sci-fi shows due to their powerfully compelling stories and unique characters who are easy to fall in love with.
